Uruguay Eliminate Italy Despite Suarez Disgrace

Natal, Brazil - In the midst of yet another shocking action by Uruguay striker, Luis Suarez, Italy has been eliminated to the surprise of many.  Suarez, who has a history of causing problems on the pitch has now been accused of a third biting incident.
The match to decide who would make the Round of 16 did not go without surprises.  In the early minutes of the match, issues became apparent for Italy.

In the 22nd minute, Italy suffered its first blow after Mario Balotelli received a yellow card for jumping into the back of Alvaro Pereira.

The next big blow for Italy was a red card shown to midfielder Claudio Marchisio.  Marchisio caught a Uruguayan player in the shin and was shown a red card for his reckless challenge.

Immediately the struggle for Italy, who only needed a draw to advance was much more serious.  However, the red card was not Italy's biggest blow.

In the 80th minute, Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez apparently bit Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini during a corner kick.  This is the third biting incident for the striker who most recently served a 10 game ban at the beginning of the last Premier League campaign due to biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic in 2013.

Shockingly, Suarez did not receive a card for the incident.  However, FIFA is launching an investigation that will likely result in a suspension for Suarez.

Uruguay's crucial goal came only one minute after the biting incident, much like the goal scored by Liverpool after the incident in 2013.  Diego Godín finished the important header on the corner to give his side the decisive 1-0 lead.

Godín, who has a history of scoring important headers such as in the Champions League Final, hit the ball perfectly past Gianluigi Buffon.

After the surprising loss, and exit from the tournament, Italian manager Cesare Prandelli has announced his resignation.

As it stands, Uruguay are projected to play Colombia on June 28.
