Champions League Semifinals Set After Exciting Quarterfinal Finishes

 

The cup draw has been decided for the UEFA Champions League Semifinals after an exciting wrap up to the Quarterfinals on Wednesday.  The Champions League Quarterfinals did not disappoint and showed the true nature of the how unexpected the Champions League is!  After the second leg of the cup tie was decided, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, and Bayern Munich are now in a very heated competition as all strive to be crowned Champions of Europe.

Will Barcelona's Transfer Ban Affect Next Season?

It was a sad day for Barcelona fans across the world as news that the club will be unable to make any transfers through the next two transfer windows.  The news came today as FIFA handed down the sanctions in response to an investigation that found the Catalan club had broken rules concerning the signing of players under the age of 18.  Though Barca is now appealing this ban, if the ban proves to be unsuccessful, it could be crippling to one of Spain's top teams.

EPL Title Race Takes an Interesting Twist

The EPL title race has taken somewhat of an interesting change after this weekend's match results.  Former league leaders Chelsea have fallen to second place after losing 1-0 to Crystal Palace on Saturday.  The Blues lost following an own goal from veteran defender John Terry.  This somewhat hurt the London side's title chances as Liverpool and Manchester City both had positive results with the Reds winning 4-0 over Tottenham, and City getting one point in a 1-1 draw with Arsenal.

After Friday's Champions League Quarter-finals cup draw, all the matches are bound to be very exciting!  As with most stages of the competition, the match-ups were selected by random draw, and are sure to be some entertaining.  With only eight teams left across Europe, the intensity will surely be high as all the teams strive to reach the Semi-finals.  Below are some match predictions for both legs of the match-ups.

Chelsea Slowly Loses Edge

 

After this weekend's matches, several teams are now closing the gap in the table which Chelsea had gained in recent weeks.  The Blues suffered a tough loss to Aston Villa on Saturday which brings Liverpool and Arsenal within four points of the leaders, both teams also currently have a game in hand.  Manchester City is also within striking distance of the league title, only six points back, with three games in hand.
