Chelsea Slowly Loses Edge

After this weekend's matches, several teams are now closing the gap in the table which Chelsea had gained in recent weeks.  The Blues suffered a tough loss to Aston Villa on Saturday which brings Liverpool and Arsenal within four points of the leaders, both teams also currently have a game in hand.  Manchester City is also within striking distance of the league title, only six points back, with three games in hand.
Both Liverpool and Arsenal drew significantly closer to the League Title.  Liverpool defeated Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday with two goals from the skipper, Steven Gerrard.  League leading goal scorer Luis Suarez also scored his 25th goal in 24 appearances.  The Reds are currently in second place ahead of Arsenal on goal differential.  Arsenal defeated Tottenham 1-0 with a very early goal from Tomas Rosicky.  The 33 year old has netted two goals in the past month, and the second of these was the difference maker in Sunday's match.

Manchester City currently is holding a strong place in the title race.  They are currently only six points back from the leaders and two points out of second with three games in hand.  These games will surely play a role as the season continues.  Manchester City also have the highest goal differential in the league.  City defeated Hull City on Saturday after suffering two consecutive losses in the Champions League and FA Cup.

Chelsea's next league match will be against Arsenal, while Liverpool and Man City both play teams currently in the relegation zone.  If Chelsea is unable to hold off the Gunners, the first place spot could undoubtedly be up for grabs.
